Welcome to Humility and Prayer Illinois

We want to encourage churches to host a special prayer gathering on September 25th or 26th – an event dedicated to humbly seeking God in prayer for our state and nation. In the spirit of corporate repentance, acknowledging our offenses before God as a nation, it is wise to prayerfully appeal to God, asking Him to forgive our national sins and to heal our land. There’s nothing too big that He can’t correct. (Ephesians 3:20-21)

Following this corporate prayer gathering, we encourage Christians to continue for the next 40 days seeking God in individual and family prayer time and through fasting. God is waiting for His people to turn to Him.

This is your event and we trust that each host church will run it in faith, knowing that if we humble ourselves before Almighty God asking for help and healing, He will hear our appeals. Of course we should pray for a revival in our society too, but as it has been said, “repentance and revival are inseparably linked.”

…if My people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

~2 Chronicles 7:14~

While this conditional promise was given to the Israelites, we believe God will be pleased if “we who are called by His Name” would humble ourselves and pray and seek His face and turn from the ways of the world. We believe this with all our hearts.

We are all acutely aware that our land needs God’s healing.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CHURCHES

We propose September 26th as the kickoff date for corporate prayer – which would ideally be followed by 40 days of individual prayer and fasting. Encouragement from church leaders to follow through in faithful and fervent prayer would be emphasized a few times during the corporate event.

Please prayerfully consider how your church can host a prayer event to follow the template we find in 2 Chronicles 7:14. When we cry out to the Lord, asking for mercy and forgiveness, confessing our sins, He is faithful to forgive.

Call upon Me on the day of trouble;
I will rescue you, and you will honor Me.
~Psalm 50:15~

WHY 40 DAYS?

In Scripture, there are more than 20 instances in which moves of God take place after forty days. From the rains that fell during the flood and the time Moses spent with God on Mt. Sinai to the length of time Jesus spent in the wilderness and then with His disciples after the resurrection. It is a significant span of time in the Bible.

Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble;
He saved them from their distresses.
~Psalm 107:6~

WHY SHOULD I SIGN UP MY CHURCH?

We’d like to make your “event(s)” known to others in your area who are looking for a body of believers to pray with, who may not have a home church, and who may want to join with your members.

The Find an Event button will let them know your church is hosting a prayer gathering. This may prove to be a wonderful opportunity to meet and fellowship with neighbors you have not met yet.

FINAL STEPS

Please click on Create an Event and fill out the form. Your event will be included, along with others, on the Find an Event page so that individuals can type in their zip code to see that your church is near them.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
A broken and a contrite heart, God, You will not despise.
~Psalm 51:17~
